Kailani and Keona: Nationals
There she was on her surf board the wave came toward her she was about to get to it and then all she could see was darkness. Thirteen year old Kailani sat up in her bed to see her bright aqua walls covered with pictures and posters. Kailani looked at her clock and realized that she was late, it was 5:30 and she was suppose to go surfing with her sister at 5:20. She got up a quickly put on her favorite bikini with vibrant flowers on it and ran into the bathroom to get ready. When she was done she sped into the kitchen were her seventeen year old brother Makaio was sitting at there island with piece of fruit for her. She grabbed it and ran out of the house waving to her parents. She snatched her surf board and ran down to her fifteen year old sister Keona. She was sitting on the beach of sunny Maui looking at there house which held there brother, parents, and golden retriever Lani.
Keona jumped when she saw Kaliani looking at her. Kaliani apologized for being late then raced her sister to the ocean. When she was in the clear aqua waters of Maui she was home. She got on her board and paddled out to the next wave. She caught it and rode trying to beat her sister. But Keona was a better surfer, she had just won 1st place in the Maui regional surfing competition. Kaliana won 2nd, she always won 2nd and Keona always won 1st, but she was never jealous. They had been the best of friends since they were born. they always trained together and were in competitions together. Tomorrow was the state surfing competitions, the best 5 surfers would advance to nationals. They had been training for weeks to prepare.
Kaliana sat in her room staring at the schedule for today's state surfing competition. She and her sister would be in the first group with 3 other surfers. She slowly put on her swim suite. Then she grabbed her bag and went to the kitchen because she had already got ready in the restroom. When she got down stairs she saw her family sitting around the table eating breakfast. She sat down and ate the pancakes then jumped in the car and sped of to the competition.
After Kaliana and Keona had checked in and gotten their colored rash guards that went over to the water and streched. They got onto there board and paddled out into the water waiting for the horn indicating that the heat will start. The horn sounded and the heat had started. Instantly Keona stated for a wave and caught, with all the tricks she did she got a 8.3. Kaliana then spotted a big wave coming towards her. She caught it and got a 9.3, the best of the match. Kaliana won and Keona got second. They did it, they were going to nationals.
