Why kids should participate
Read in the summer and you’ll maintain or even improve your reading skills! Discover the pleasure of reading when it’s not a chore or assignment. Try activities that challenge you to “Imagine your stories”. Experience how reading enhances every interest, hobby and trend you love.
And remember, in the summer reading program, kids can read anything! Any reading level, any topic, in any format. It’s fine to re-read a favorite or try something new and different!
How it works
You’ll complete reading activities, all summer long! Choose your own activities from fifteen fun options. Read for 30 minutes, write stories, share recipes and many more options are on our Activities list. Most activities will take between 15 and 30 minutes. Repeat your favorite activities as many times as you like.
Print out and keep track of your progress with this cute log:
Or if you prefer to keep track of your progress online, you can do that at https://pvld.beanstack.org . Register to get started.
After you complete four activities, we’ll mail you a souvenir iron-on patch!
