I wake up to the sound of nothing. Silence. Unusual silence as well. My day always starts off with my mother and father flinging my older brother out of bed, and a loud thud shaking the ceiling above me, dropping dust and paint onto my face. Amazing alarm really, couldn’t be better. Today though, today is different. My eyes widen as I realize the only possible option is that I’ve slept in.

“Oh no no no no no no,” I whisper shout and scramble out of bed, throwing on my uniform and half-heartedly doing my eyeliner. I run to my parents’ room when I see the sheets undone. My parents are very organized people. Everything is always perfect. Perfect sheets, designs, everything. This is not right. I grab my phone and attempt to call my parents, but my phone won’t turn on. I run outside and look for any sign of my family. Our car is still in the driveway, and at this point, I think it’s all a dream, or I’m hallucinating. I look up, and the clouds aren’t even moving.

“HELLO? IS ANYBODY THERE,” I holler. “ANYONE AT ALL,” No response. I run to my neighbor’s house and knock on the door. Another series of silence.

“Anyone,” I whisper. “Please,”

The forest. I’ve always felt safe in the forest. I sprint through the trees to my little camp. It’s pretty much just a blanket in a tree. I know the exact coordinates of my tree, and I find it, but it doesn’t have my blanket. I secured it very well and there is no reason why it wouldn’t be there. Maybe it’s nearby. As I’m hunting the floor, looking, I see a stone formation in the distance. Some sort of ancient gravestone. I check the name, brushing off all the dirt. I can feel my eyebrows crinkling when I realize what might be happening. The stone reads “Dimension faze 7 1921-2001” What kind of Doctor Strange world am I living in? Under the soil, I can see a small card, like a business card. I pick it up and the letters glow a brilliant neon blue. In a flash of light, I’m in complete darkness.

“Hello child,” A strange voice sounds.

“H-Hey?” I respond.

The voice chuckles, then says, “You must have many questions, but I can answer none. If you want to go home, it’s very simple you just need to make a sacrifice. Give up something you love, and spill blood,”

In a flash, I’m back in the forest, in front of my tree.

“How do I give up a tree?” I wonder

“You will never see it again,” That tree is-was- my best friend, but to get home... “What do I have to do?”

I felt a swift cut on my hand and watched the blood drip down onto the roots of my tree. Flash.

What a strange dream.

I get up and see a long scar on my hand.
